FORMER TV NEWS REPORTER ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR MAINE HOUSE, PLEDGES TO BRING A LIFETIME OF SERVICE TO AUGUSTA

AUBURN, ME – Corey Bouchard officially announced his candidacy for the Maine House of Representatives District 88 today, grounding his campaign in a narrative of service cultivated through his time in the U.S. Army and as a television news reporter. Bouchard is committed to bringing the spirit of shared purpose and resilience to Augusta.

"My life has been defined by service, long before I ever considered running for office," said Bouchard. "As a young man, I answered the call to serve our country in the U.S. Army. That experience taught me about discipline, sacrifice, and the profound meaning of working alongside people from all backgrounds for a single, shared mission. It showed me that our greatest strength comes from our unity and our willingness to put country before self."

After his military service, Bouchard served his community as a news reporter, spending years on the ground listening to the concerns of working families, small business owners, and veterans. He covered the tragic mass shooting in Lewiston, an experience that deeply impacted his perspective on public safety. "I saw firsthand the devastating impact of gun violence on our community," said Bouchard. "That day solidified my commitment to advocating for common-sense gun safety measures that protect our families without infringing on the rights of law-abiding citizens."

Bouchard also covered the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. "I spoke with families across Maine who were devastated by the ruling," he said. "Hearing their fears about the future of healthcare decisions showed me that we must protect a woman’s right to choose here in our state. Every person deserves the freedom to make their own private medical decisions without government interference."

Bouchard’s identity as a gay man has also shaped his values, instilling in him a deep commitment to treating everyone with dignity and respect. He is a fierce advocate for a community where every person feels they belong, and this commitment extends to defending fundamental freedoms and fighting for full LGBTQ+ equality.

Bouchard highlighted the shared values of the district he seeks to represent. "This community—our home—is a place of resilience and hard work. We believe in taking care of our neighbors, in the value of a day's honest work, and in a future where our children can thrive right here in Maine," he stated. "The people of our district aren't looking for easy answers; they're looking for someone who will listen, show up, and fight for the things that matter most: good jobs, affordable healthcare, a strong education for our kids, and support for our veterans. These are the values that unite us."

Recognizing the urgency of the moment, Bouchard called for collective action. "The time for action is now. We face a moment where our families are squeezed by rising costs and our veterans need stronger support. I've spent my life in service to others—first in the Army, then as a reporter—and I've learned that a single person can't solve these challenges alone. We need to work together."

Bouchard invited residents to join his campaign, stating, "I'm asking you to join me on this mission to build a stronger, more inclusive Maine. Let’s bring the spirit of shared purpose back to our district and create a future we can all be proud of."
